Baldrick's Bridesmaid Dress
Blackadder II

The dress worn by Sir Tony Robinson as Baldrick in the popular BBC period comedy series Blackadder II. The dress was worn by Baldrick in episode 1 titled Bells when he assumed the role of bridesmaid for the wedding of Edmund Blackadder and ‘Bob’.
It is usual for multiple versions of a costume to be made for production reasons but due to expense and planned use it is believed that this costume was the only one ever made and hence the costume you see on screen is this one.
The original design included the pearl-like droplets still seen on the costume today, but television recording technology at the time the programme originally aired was not capable of picking up this detail and so when viewing the original episode this detail is not apparent.
The costume has been part of this collection since 2018 and is a regular display piece at Shenstone Village Festival having proved to be a popular item.
Born in 1946, British actor Tony Robinson will forever be associated with the loveable dogsbody Baldrick in the ever popular BBC comedy series Blackadder. His talents stretch far beyond that, however. As well as numerous TV acting roles Tony has produced and presented entertaining educational series such as Time Team and Tony Robinson's History of Britain.
Robinson has authored numerous children's books and historical works and was knighted in 2013 for his services to drama and archaeology.
