Far From The Madding Crowd
This leather top and blue skirt riding costume was worn by Carey Mulligan as Bathsheba Everdene in Thomas Vinterberg's 2015 adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Far From The Madding Crowd.
Bathsheba wore this costume towards the end of the film when she pursed Gabriel to ask him to marry her.
Being new to the collection, this is the first time this costume has been seen in public.
British actress Carey Mulligan was born in London in 1985. Awarded a CBE in 2025 for services to drama, she made her film debut in the 2005 production of Pride & Prejudice and has since starred in a number of films including Shame, Far From The Madding Crowd and The Great Gatsby.
Mulligan played the leading role of Sally Sparrow in Blink, arguably the best Dr Who story of the modern era.
As well as her many screen roles, the actress has also appeared on stage in both the West End and on Broadway and has both won and been nominated for numerous film & theatrical awards including a BAFTA award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for An Education (2000).
She is married to singer Marcus Mumford with whom she has three children.
