Promised Land
This costume was worn by 1980s/90s mega star Meg Ryan in the gritty 1987 drama Promised Land. The film follows two high school acquaintances, Hancock and Danny, after they graduate.
Ryan wears this dress when her character, Bev, marries Danny, played by Kiefer Sutherland.
The dress originally had lace detailing around the hem, however, this was removed during filming as part of the storyline.
Having been part of the collection since 2005, this is the first time this costume has been displayed in public.

Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, USA in 1961, Meg Ryan was a household name during the late 1980s and 1990s known for playing quirky, charismatic women and particularly recognised for her leading roles in romantic comedies.
Her films include 'Top Gun' (1986), 'Innerspace' (1987), 'When Harry Met Sally' (1989), 'Sleepless in Seattle' (1993), 'IQ' (1994) and 'You've Got Mail' (1998).
In 2003, Ryan was involved in an infamous BBC interview with Sir Michael Parkinson about her role in the erotic thriller 'In The Cut'.
