Cat's Orange Velour Suit

Red Dwarf VII

Cat's Orange Velour Suit

This costume was worn by Danny John-Jules as Cat in the BBC TV science-fiction comedy series Red Dwarf.

The fashion obsessed feline wears this suit in the series VII episode Stoke Me a Clipper when Ace Rimmer returns to the crew to train his pathetic alter-ego Arnold Rimmer as his replacement.

The suit was custom made for the actor and is unfortunately missing the original gold buttons that were removed after filming for reuse.

This costume was last on public display in 2022.

His parents having arrived in England from Dominica aboard the Empire Windrush, Danny John Jules was born in Paddington, London in 1960. He is an actor, singer and dancer best known for playing Cat in the BBC comedy series Red Dwarf, Barrington in the comic children's series Maid Marian and Her Merry Men and policeman Dwayne Myers in crime drama Death in Paradise.

On the big screen, Danny voiced two characters in the musical fantasy film Labyrinth, starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, appeared in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and was a dancer in the 1981 movie The Great Muppet Caper.

On stage he played the role of box car Rocky I in the original West End Production of Starlight Express.

John-Jules competed in the 16th of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with professional dancer Amy Dowden.
