Laliari's Space Suit

Galaxy Quest

Laliari's Space Suit

This jump suit was worn by Missi Pyle as Laliari in the 1999 science fiction spoof comedy adventure Galaxy Quest.

In the movie, the main characters from the TV series Galaxy Quest, which had a plot not dis-similar from the real world Star Trek, are depicted visiting a fan convention that, as is the case for many TV series, was long after the show had finished airing. Whilst at the convention the 'crew' was contacted by an alien race known as the Thermians who had been monitoring the TV transmissions of the show believing them to be real. They were transported to a working replica of the Galaxy Quest star ship, the NSEA Protector, that had been constructed by the aliens using knowledge they had acquired from the TV series and persuaded to fight alongside the Thermians against their enemy, Sarris.

Laliari was the main female Thermian character and this style of costume was worn throughout the movie by the Thermian characters.

Missi Pyle is an American actress and singer, born in Houston, Texas. Since her breakout role as Laliari in Galaxy Quest she has made appearances in nearly 200 film and television productions including all 20 episodes of the 2018 television science-fiction series Impulse and as Mrs Beauregarde in the 2005 movie Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, starring Johnny Depp.

Pyle was part of a country music duo called Smith & Pyle with actress Shawnee Smith, releasing their first album entitled 'It's OK to be happy' in July 2008.

On 29th September 2008 Pyle was scheduled to ring the bell to signify end of trading at the New York Stock Exchange to promote Boeing-Boeing but withdrew minutes before because she did not want to be associated with a calamitous day of stock market trading.
