Mary-Jane's Waitress Costume

This is Mary-Jane Watson's waitress outfit from the 2007 Sam Raimi directed superhero action movie Spider-man 3.

Starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-man and Kirsten Dunst as Mary-Jane Watson, the third film in the trilogy follows Peter's quest to capture his uncle's killer who has been transformed into The Sandman. Peter is consumed by a parasite from space that greatly amplifies his powers and turns his Spider-man suit jet black. The parasite amplifies his dark side and Peter also has to battle himself - Dark-Spidey.

The shirt with this costume is one of a few worn by Mary-Jane (Kirsten Dunst) when she is working in a jazz bar as a singing waitress. The skirt is made of a black synthetic material with elasticated waistband and was not intended to be shown in close up during filming. The shirt has tears in it consistent with the use of a harness. This costume was probably worn during the final battle towards the end of the film when Mary-Jane is caught in a web high up amongst the buildings.

This is one of the jewels of this collection and has been part of it since 2016. It was last seen in public 4 years ago.

Born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, USA in 1982, Kirsten Dunst made her acting debut in the anthology film New York Stories in 1989, although she had appeared as a child fashion model in TV commercials from the age of 3. She has since appeared in numerous film and TV productions and has received several awards including nominations for an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award and four Golden Globe Awards.

Dunst is married to fellow actor Jesse Plemons and they have two sons.
