The Land Girls
This is one of the signature costumes from the 1998 wartime drama The Land Girls. It was worn by Anna Friel in the role of Prudence.
Also starring Catherine McCormack and Rachel Weisz, the film follows the lives of three young women from very different backgrounds who are sent to work together on a farm in Dorset after joining the Women's Land Army during World War 2.
With this item is a promotional poster signed by Friel, McCormack, Weisz, Mackintosh and Leland.
This costume has been part of the collection since 2018 and was last seen on public display in 2019.
Born in Rochdale in 1976, Anna Friel first achieved fame as Beth Jordache in the British soap opera 'Brookside'. She came to wider prominence through her role as Charlotte "Chuck" Charles in the American fantasy comedy series 'Pushing Daisies' for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
Friel has appeared in many TV and film productions including 'The Land Girls' and 'Land of The Lost' (2009) as well as playing roles on stage including as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's in London's West End in 2009.
