Rimmer's Pink Cavalier Costume

This cavalier costume was worn by Chris Barrie as Arnold Rimmer in the popular BBC science-fiction comedy series Red Dwarf. The costume appears in Series V episode 'Terrorform' in which a planet is created by Rimmer's subconscious mind and his neuroses manifest themselves as various horrors.
Rimmer is seen wearing this cavalier outfit towards the end of the episode when, after being rescued by the other crew members, his positive traits rise from the grave to fight and defeat his demons.
Having been acquired by this collection in 2019 this costume is making its second appearance at Shenstone Village Festival, the previous time being 4 years ago.
Chris Barrie was born in 1960 in Hanover, West Germany as the son of a serving British soldier. He worked as an impressionist on the satirical puppet show Spitting Image between 1984 and 1996 and has been an impersonator on a number of TV shows.
He has had small roles in a number of films including in the Lara Croft franchise but he is more widely known as ship's hologram Arnold Rimmer in the popular BBC science-fiction comedy series Red Dwarf and also as the incompetent manager of Whitbury Newtown Leisure Centre, Gordon Brittas, in the BBC comedy series The Brittas Empire, which ran for 52 episodes between 1991 and 1997.
Outside of his television and film work, Chris collects vintage metal signs, vintage motorbikes and old British cars. In 2010 he was awarded an honorary DTech (Doctor of Technology) by Loughborough University for his contribution to promoting engineering and technology.
